Helping Hands is a group of people who meet the second and fourth Saturdays each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
We started to sew baby blankets for the Linus Blanket project. Linus Blankets can be sewn or knitted or crocheted by anyone. There are drop-off locations for the donations. The blankets are then picked up, cleaned and distributed to Tri-state area hospitals, shelters, police stations, fire stations, anywhere a blanket could be used to comfort someone in need. A newsletter is received several times a year to keep us updated on the requirements and needs of the organization and to answer questions.
Our goal is to find other ways to serve the people in our church and in the community through the use of our hands. We would like to have a mending day to do repair work on clothing for those people who can't fix or don't have time to fix ripped seams or attach missing buttons. We could knit hats and mittens for the homeless. We have plenty of extra knitting needles and crochet hooks.
